1. The Diagnosis:

Once the wheel is off, we need to get to the inner tube. Start by deflating the tire completely. If there’s any air left, press down on the valve core (the little pin inside the valve) to let it out. 4. Patching or Replacing the Tube:

If you found a small puncture, you can patch the tube. Patch kits are inexpensive and readily available. Follow the instructions on the kit – it usually involves roughing up the area around the hole, applying glue, and pressing the patch firmly in place. If the hole is large, or if the tube is damaged in multiple places, it’s generally easier and more reliable to just replace the tube. New tubes are also relatively inexpensive.

5. Reassembling the Wheel:

Now, the reverse process! Put one side of the tire bead back onto the rim. Then, insert the valve stem of the inner tube into the hole in the rim. Carefully work the rest of the tube into the tire, making sure it’s not twisted or pinched. Then, start working the second tire bead back onto the rim. This can be the trickiest part. You might need to use tire levers again, but be careful not to pinch the inner tube between the lever and the rim.

6. Inflating the Tire:

Once the tire is back on the rim, inflate the tube just a little bit to make sure it’s seated properly. Then, check the tire bead all the way around to make sure it’s sitting correctly in the rim. If it looks good, inflate the tire to the recommended pressure (it’s usually printed on the sidewall of the tire). Don’t overinflate!

7. Putting the Wheel Back On:

Put the wheel back on the bike, making sure everything lines up correctly. If you have quick-release hubs, close the lever. If you have bolt-on hubs, tighten the nuts securely.

8. The Test Ride:

Before you hit the road, take a short test ride to make sure everything is working properly. Check the tire pressure again after a short ride.
